Senior Analyst or Associate Engineer/Consultant
Paxwood Acoustics is seeking a full-time Senior Analyst or Associate Engineer/Consultant. The position involves working on a wide range of noise control and environmental permitting and compliance projects, including sound measurement planning and execution, acoustic modeling and data analysis, and technical report preparation. The role requires periodic out-of-state travel for fieldwork and participation in public meetings. This is a remote position within the Northeastern or Midwestern United States. A location within two hours of a major airport, is preferred.
Responsibilities
This role may be filled at the Senior Analyst or Associate Engineer/Consultant level depending on the candidate's experience. Core responsibilities are shared, but level determines the expected autonomy, deliverable ownership (report authorship), technical specialization, and client/regulatory engagement. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Assisting with planning and conducting technical scope of projects including geospatial acoustical modeling, data analysis, and field work, including sound level meteorological measurements, exercising professional judgement and, when appropriate, following applicable industry standards across the U.S.

Developing practical and actionable noise mitigation recommendations to help clients comply with regulations and meet project goals.

Interacting and consulting with clients, colleagues, and collaborators.

Preparing graphics, tables, and maps for reports and presentations.

Researching and reviewing relevant technical information, research papers, specifications, and standards.

Assisting with administrative and operational tasks as needed.

Presenting technical information and answering questions at conferences.
Specific to Senior Analyst:

Authoring components of technical reports and correspondence that provides interpretation and professional discernment of data and modeling results with recommendations and conclusions, helping clients and stakeholders make informed decisions about projects.
Specific to Associate Engineer/Consultant:

Authoring complete technical reports and correspondence that provides interpretation and professional discernment of data and modeling results with recommendations and conclusions, helping clients and stakeholders make informed decisions about projects.

Required Qualifications
Experience & Education

Core Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in acoustics, engineering, environmental or physical sciences, math or data-related field.
For Senior Analyst:

2 to 4 years of experience in an acoustical consulting environment. No acoustical consulting experience needed with a Master’s degree in acoustics.
For Associate Engineer/Consultant:
-
3 to 6 years of experience in an acoustical consulting environment. Only 2 years acoustical consulting experience needed with a Master’s degree in acoustics.

Progress toward INCE Board Certification.
Technical Skillsets & Knowledge
For Senior Analyst:

Experience with fieldwork, acoustical data collection, and equipment care and maintenance.

Experience with acoustical data analysis and modeling.

Demonstrated ability to independently complete technical tasks.
For Associate Engineer/Consultant:
